In Question Time this week, I asked the Prime Minister about the future storage of medical nuclear waste in Australia. Not only did the PM fail to answer the question, but he also failed to display an understanding of our local area and the importance of our nuclear medicine industry and the lifesaving work carried out at Lucas Heights.

The Albanese Labor government's latest budget has failed to address the housing crisis, leaving Australians struggling with higher mortgage repayments and rents while falling short on their promise to build more homes.

The Albanese Labor government's new superannuation taxes, a broken election promise, will unfairly burden younger Australians already struggling with the cost of living, eroding their retirement savings.

I stood in Parliament to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Fiona Shewring OAM and Dr Jodie Ward PSM, who have made outstanding contributions to our community and were recognised in this year's King's Birthday Honours List.

The royal commission that was held into disability services. This was established by the coalition in April 2019, and it was properly established in response to community concern about widespread reports of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people with disability. It has now come down with 222 recommendations. It was a long road leading to the release of the royal commission's findings. Although released over eight months ago, we still have not seen a proper ministerial response to those recommendations.

Today, HammondCare announced construction of the Hammondville 3 and 4 projects, which will build an additional 90 beds in new care homes to support people living with dementia. While I am disappointed I could not be there, I wanted to use this opportunity to congratulate all of those involved in this project, from the beginning stage to delivery

I do commend the government for extending the Escaping Violence Payment. This is where emergency payments of $5,000—$1,500 in cash and $3,500 in goods—can be provided to support women and children fleeing domestic violence and trying to start their new lives in safety. The coalition established this payment in 2021. Unfortunately though, with the housing crisis we're currently facing this payment means that many women will still not be able to find adequate housing.

I rise to speak on the Net Zero Economy Authority Bill 2024, which I will be opposing. The coalition will be opposing this bill for a number of reasons, and I will elaborate on all of these reasons.

This is one area where this government has really let Australians down. Homeownership has never been less affordable than under this government. Let's look first of all at the deposit that's required. From the 1960s right through even to the 1990s, it took on average months, or a small number of years, to save for the average deposit for the average Australian home on an average Australian wage or salary. Now it is 12 years.

Greater Western Sydney is home to around one in 10 Australians. It's one of the fastest-growing areas in Australia and has been for many years. And it has not had the adequate planning. Every part of Western Sydney, from the Hawkesbury in the north to Wollondilly in the south to the Blue Mountains in the west to Parramatta and Liverpool in the east, needs additional infrastructure to support a rapidly growing population.

I am very happy to rise to support this motion brought by the member for Casey, and I thank him for bringing the importance of home-care packages and the current significant underfunding in home-care packages to this place.

Gender violence is multifaceted. It is a very complex issue. I feel confident though that, at least in this place, we are all trying to work together to find solutions for this problem. We need to put everything on the table and we need to look at how we can change the behaviour of perpetrators as well as providing adequate support for victims.

In Question Time today, the Minister of Immigration, Andrew Giles, failed to answer question after question about his mishandling of his portfolio.

This includes my question, where I asked the Minister when he and the Albanese Labor government will apologise to the Australian people and reverse Direction 99.

The first priority of a federal government must always be to keep our citizens, our communities and our streets safe. This immigration minister has demonstrated repeatedly that he is unable to do that, and he has done that in two main actions: his response to the High Court decision of NZYQ and his direction 99.

My question is to the Prime Minister. Who will receive the $300 energy rebate announced in the budget? Is it (a) someone who earns over $500,000 a year, (b) someone who owns three properties, (c) the Prime Minister of Australia, or (d) all of the above?

On behalf of my community in Hughes, I want to pay particular tribute to the victims. May they rest in peace. I also want to extend compassion and sympathy to all those affected and let them know that they are in our thoughts today and will be into the future.

I rise to speak about Cook School at Loftus, which I recently had the privilege of visiting. For many of our students, mainstream schools simply do not work.

I turn, first of all, to the issue that this is a broken promise from the Albanese Labor government. Australians save hard for their retirement. We did not hear a single word during the election campaign of 2022 that said that any changes were going to be brought to superannuation.
