Help me to help our local koalas!

There is a healthy koala colony living in and around Sandy Point, Voyager Point and throughout Heathcote National Park.  This colony is under threat of roadkill along Heathcote Road, especially around Deadmans Creek.  Just last year, there were 9 koalas killed at Deadmans Creek.

What is needed?

Short Term: Fencing to stop koalas crossing the road

Long Term: Wildlife Corridors

The NSW State Government (Transport for NSW) has had a report since 2021 recommending fencing options.  To date it has failed to act.

The Federal Government could also assist through its National Koala Strategy to provide wildlife corridors.  So far it has refused.  Instead, it has “passed the buck” and said it is the State Government’s responsibility.
