Certification of Appreciation - Lance-Corporal Terry Doyle

It was an honour to present Terry and members of his family that served Australia during war with Certificates of Appreciation. During COVID, Terry’s brother Tony, was doing research on his family tree, which lead him to find more history on his family and their overseas service.

Lance-Corporal Terence Doyle served in the Royal Australian Engineers Corps during the Vietnam War, in the 17th Construction Squadron, between 1970 and 1971.

Tony and Terry’s Grandfather, Private William Doyle, enlisted in World War II at the age of 59. Private Doyle’s posting at discharge was with 5 Auxiliary Horse Transport Company.

Gunner Frederick Doyle, the father of Tony and Terry, enlisted to serve in World War II in 1943, where he served for 2 years. Gunner Doyle’s posting at discharge in 1945 was Heavy Coast Artillery.

Tony and Terry also had two uncles who served in World War II. The first was Private Cecil Doyle, who served in the 2/3rd Field Regiment Artillery, and Gunner Michael Foley, who served as part of the 32nd Australian Infantry Training Battalion.
