STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS - Bonnet Bay: National Broadband Network
I today speak on behalf of and advocate for the community of Bonnet Bay within my electorate of Hughes. In August this year the residents of Bonnet Bay experienced a suburb-wide NBN outage—yes, no internet at all throughout the entire suburb.

I rise to speak on the motion by the member for Higgins. In principle, I support any moves that will help to address the gender inequity issues that we currently have in our country.

ADJOURNMENT - Australian Defence Force
Last Friday I had the privilege and honour of attending Holsworthy military barracks in my electorate to witness officers and soldiers of the Special Operations Engineer Regiment and the 1st and 2nd commando regiments receiving their berets. I thank my colleague and friend the member for Menzies, who attended with me, and I acknowledge his service with Special Operations Command.
BILLS - Family Assistance Legislation Amendment (Cheaper Child Care) Bill 2022 - Second Reading
I rise to support this amendment to the Family Assistance Legislation Amendment (Cheaper Child Care) Bill 2022. This side of the House supports the bill in principle. I speak on the sensible amendments put forward by the member for Moncrieff. I have risen a number of times in this place to talk about the impacts of the increasing cost of living and the struggles Australian families are facing. Child care is a major cost outlay for families, including those in my electorate of Hughes.
BILLS - Treasury Laws Amendment (More Competition, Better Prices) Bill 2022 - Second Reading
I rise to give support to the Treasury Laws Amendment (More Competition, Better Prices) Bill 2022. This bill seeks to increase the penalties for breaches of the Australian Consumer Law as well as the Competition and Consumer Act 2010. It is pleasing to see that many of the reforms proposed within this bill were as contained in the former coalition government's Treasury Laws Amendment (Enhancing Tax Integrity and Supporting Business Investment) Bill 2022.
BILLS - Social Services and Other Legislation Amendment (Incentivising Pensioners to Downsize) Bill 2022 - Second Reading
I rise to give support to the Social Services and Other Legislation Amendment (Incentivising Pensioners to Downsize) Bill 2022. I've spoken in this place multiple times now about the current housing crisis, and I'm passionate about increasing affordable housing opportunities for all Australians, whether they be families, single parents or young couples.
MATTERS OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE - Cost of Living
I rise on this matter of public importance, the cost-of-living crisis and this government's lack of a plan to deal with it. The rapidly accelerating cost of living is something that Australians are really struggling with. Interest rates are going up, the price of food and groceries is skyrocketing and the reduction to the fuel excise is set to expire in only 48 hours.

QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE - Workplace Relations
My question is to the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations. BILLS - Restoring Territory Rights Bill 2022 - Second Reading
However, as amendments to the Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government) Act 1988 and the Northern Territory (Self-Government) Act 1978 established, the autonomous governing of our territories was restricted to prevent any potential for either the ACT or the Northern Territory to ever enact similar voluntary assisted dying legislation without a resolution of this parliament.

QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE - Aged Care
My question is to the Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Sport. How many additional nurses are needed to fulfil the government's commitment to have 24/7 nursing in aged care by 2023?
